Egg dying with plants

Celebrating the coming of spring with egg dying is so much fun to do with my fam. Using plant derived dyes is even better. There are many colors you can create. last spring I used onion skin, Turmeric and blue berrrys. This year I will try red cabbage for blue, red cabbage and turmeric for green and grape juice for purple. Any way Here you can find a variety of choices and it gives simple direction. Vinegar is a way to brighten the colors and make the colors adhere better. To decorate we used masking tape, beeswax crayons and string for shibori effects.
Play, experiment and have fun. I did a workshop at Maison Reve this morning. It was a wonderful place to bring together community to explore Plant dyeing.

I've dyed eggs using natural plant-based dyes before...can you tell me if you've ever used these same dyes for dying wool?

Beautiful.

I grew up in Serbia, and we always used vegetable dyes (mostly onion skins) to color eggs.

Another good suggestion - use leaves and flowers as stencils, then tie eggs in a nylon stocking.
