THE FINANCIAL MANIFESTO

Then there is my OTHER super talented sister COLLEEN who created this book. Her life has become her art. I love her like crazy and she inspires me to do what I love. She is a cook at Canele in Atwater/Silverlake. The food is the real deal- one of the best meals I have ever had and I'm a picky mo-fo. She spends a lot of time in her vegatable garden where she grows zucchini, tomatoes, beans, pumpkins, and a whole lot of other beautiful veggies. She also takes care of a Clydsdale horse and teaches young girls to ride. Colleen just knows how to live man!!

Her book, THE FINANCIAL MANIFESTO talks about how she does it. Here are a few lines from it:

"The Financial Manifesto is written from a perspective of an artist with a low income who nonetheless has privileges that many in the world do not; adequate shelter, food, a job, and a credit card. I hope that this encourages others inhabiting this capitalist society to question what's important in their life and how the spend their time.

Money that you don't spend is money that you make.

Put objects away and reintroduce them to youre enviroNment. Many times we don't have room for more stuff around the house, but we want something new. Go to your closet and put on something that you haven't worn for a while. It's like getting something new.

Masturbation is free. You don't have to have a partner, and you don't have to depend on another to make it work.

You must have a budget. You have to keep track of what is coming in and what is going out, otherwise it will be impossible to keep these equal.

Grow food. The food that one grows is often better that what you can buy. Eat fruits and vegetables when they are in season. They are freasher, cheaper, and most likely taste better. Compost for the soil and conserve with water. Planting benifits the planet. It's also good for your health."

Sounds good huh?
